Durban showbiz personality Jailoshni Naidoo will anchor the show, joined by a presenter team featuring Mishal Mookrey, Yajna Balgobind, Tilisha Govender, Mohammed Nassuirio and Ramona Kasavan. The new faces have come to the fore as the cream of the crop from the Eastern Mosaic Presenter Search.

Of course, there is always a joker in the pack and this one is named Rumba Naidoo (or Aunty Ruby Rose, to her friends and any acquaintances within earshot). Naidoo has developed a fanatical following while simultaneously stirring fierce controversy – and whatever one’s feeling about her may be, she can never be accused of being boring. Eastern Mosaic would certainly not be the same without her and she will be back in the new season.

Entertainment becomes the focus of attention for the summer, with new releases and chart-topping tracks enjoying the lion’s (or should that be tiger’s?) share of the airtime. Food, fashion, arts, culture and festivities will still feature in the line-up, and each week will offer a mix of entertainment, information and inspiration – aimed at topping up energy levels as the year comes to a hectic close and in anticipation of the holiday season.

While Eastern Mosaic’s latest avatar will retain the essential elements that have established its audience attracting track record for more than a decade, viewers can look forward to a new balance in terms of contents. The forthcoming summer season of the show will focus on entertainment, featuring chart-topping music videos and the latest releases from India’s ever-prolific film industry. Eastern Mosaic will also take film fans behind the scenes of the blockbusters – seeing the making of the movies from the stars’ point of view.

Movie fans can look forward to Hrithik Roshan being super-heroic in Krrish 3, Aamir Khan becoming villainous in Dhoom 3 – and Kareena Kapoor showing her pert and perky profile in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. Lovers of quality cinema and romance will not want to miss director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s acclaimed interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. Titled Ram-Leela, it stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone – and Eastern Mosaic will feature highlights from the movie as well as the soundtrack.

For the rest, followers of fashion, food, travel and lifestyle will find their favourite features in the line-up – with brides-to-be treated to selected coverage of the latest collections on show in Mumbai and Delhi. Milestone events and cultural festivals have been diarised especially for the South African Tamil community while also being of interest to the broader audience.

Eastern Mosaic will air on Sundays from 10 November at 10:30.
