FOX International Channels (FIC) launches a new reality series Man Up on Friday, 17 January at 20:20 on FOX, channel 125 on DStv. The reality show sees Britain’s hopeless blokes transformed into brilliant men. From 30-year-old virgins to games shop geeks, ‘mummy’s men' and even Star Trek fanatics.
For decades women have fought tooth and manicured nail for equality and independence - but where has this left the 21st Century male? With many men choosing to live at home for as long as possible, lacking confidence and left confused as to what women really want, this series is here to help.
Each episode will see one sad, hapless male go on a life-changing journey to unlock the hidden hero inside. Presenter Olivia Lee takes each hopeful by the hand and tries to find the untapped potential as she plunges him into the unknown – whether he’s being forced to get up close and personal with a group of sexy gorgeous women or taken out of his comfort zone by being immersed in a highly charged testosterone-driven ‘man’s world'. All this will be a shock to the system but it will help him to find the confidence he never had. With the help of in-house psychologist Anjula Mutanda and stylist extraordinaire Gemma Sheppard, Man Up unpeels the layers and builds him back up again. At the end of the week, Lee has one last surprise in store for each guy before she sends them on their way to a new life –a date.
FOX International channels director, Thandi Davids said: “We’re really pleased to be delivering this sort of content to our local audiences.”
Among the candidates desperate for help are a farmer who’d rather be out in the fields than out on the pull, a scientist struggling to get over the love of his life leaving him and an engineer who is railing against his family’s desire for him to have an arranged marriage. It’s an emotional, funny, heart-warming journey. The question is, will these guys rise to the challenge and Man Up?
Man Up airs from Friday, 17 January at 20:20 on FOX, channel 125 on DStv.
