Little did they know that this glorious feast served in Edwardian elegance, complete with music from the string orchestra, was to be their last.

To celebrate the 2014 Valentines Weekend, the five-star Munro Boutique Hotel in Houghton, together with Joburg Pop-Up Soirees, will recreate this impressive 11-course menu, based on the original salvaged from the wreckage. The dinner features cuisine inspired by the king of chefs, Auguste Escoffier. As the annual event now has its new home at the Munro Hotel, this year’s dinners promise an abridged menu and a few innovative turns.

Captaining the banquets kitchen team will be master executive chefs of The Munro, Dimitre and Komnia Minkova, previously of Novotela Hotel in Athens and legendary Michelangelo in Sandton.

This fine dining will be accompanied by some fine 'wining', with wine and liqueurs partnered to the dishes being served. Estate wines will include labels such as Ormonde Private Cellar and Ondine.

From research and to keep with the theme, The Munro will enhance its already luxurious interior to resemble the splendour of the Titanic, complete with candelabra, chandeliers and an array of pink and white flowers.

Between the entertaining interactive iceberg warnings, the live music will be provided by three members of the cities favourite orchestra, and the recently formed Double O Ensemble, including Mary Tennant on violin, and Arno Steyn, graduate of Royal College of Music in UK, on bassoon.

The classical, yet slightly 'jazzed up' music, will set the sumptuous mood for this black-tie gourmet banquet.

The Valentine’s extravaganza promises exceptional cuisine and superb wines served with grace and style; a trio of the city’s finest professional musicians, amid the elegance and five-star beauty of The Munro Hotel, all put together flawlessly by Joburg Pop-Up Soirees.
