BBC Knowledge to feature first season of Factomania this April
Media 107
Want to know why there are dinosaurs in one's garden; how Vikings were the world’s first metro-sexuals; why two thousand strains of bacteria live in one's belly button; how beer is the bedrock of civilization and how to build a hoverboard? Factomania reveals the world’s most incredible facts through explosive experiments, animated tales and strange stunts.
In each episode, the hosts Dominic Byrne (Mr Curious), Fran Scott (Bold Experimentalist) and Greg Foot (Daredevil Scientist) get three chances to win. They can award each other’s stories up to 100 points for packing in maximum facts and maximum fun.
While Foot sets out to find the most explosive ingredient in his kitchen, Byrne is inspired to make an animated Guide to making it as a Gladiator following the statistic that only ‘one in ten gladiators survived’. Meanwhile, armed with the knowledge that tea tastes terrible on an aeroplane, Scott devises a demo to prove that one can boil water when it’s cold.
Factomania airs from Thursday, 3 April at 22:00 on BBC Knowledge, channel 184 DStv.
