An army of people are working behind-the-scenes to make sure this year’s walk will be the best one yet. There’ll be more fun for the whole family and more of the vibey, carnival atmosphere that the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk has become synonymous with over the years.

"Seeing everyone come together to have fun is the best part," says East Coast Breakfast’s Natarah 'Nats' Nadesan. She will be joining Darren Maule and all the other ECR presenters along the route, chatting to fans and taking loads of #HealthySelfies. "No jokes. We took tons of selfies with Big Walkers last year. I've got a feeling that later this month, we're going to break the record for most selfies taken at an outdoor event."

But there’s more to the morning than being pout and about. There’s the fresh sea air, the most magnificent promenade in the country, a chance to make new friends and spend quality time with the family while getting in some exercise.

"Everything about the event is something to look forward to. It's such a great day out and it's an awesome way to meet the people who listen to my show," says ECR’s Damon Beard. Bongani Mtolo agrees. The 18:00 to 21:00 presenter says, "Last year was a total blast, man. I can’t wait for more of the same. The atmosphere is incredible. You just can't explain to someone."

Zaba will be scanning the sea of walkers with her trained fashionista eye. "I love to see how people funk up their Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk T’s. It's no secret that I'm a lover of looking good, and I get a lot of my gym style inspiration from our walkers."

If your legs aren’t tired when you cross the finish line, Deon Govender will get them moving like he did last year, mixing some pretty cool tracks. "I can’t wait to relive those moments and create more awesome memories," he says.

The Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk will get underway from uShaka Marine World and will end at People’s Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
