The first prize went to Nadia Jackson from Group M Primus Cape Town, who won a holiday of her choice through Seekers Travel to the value of R15 000. Wendy Hunt from Mindshare Johannesburg won the second prize and Jennifer Kwan from Mediology Johannesburg won third prize, Spree.co.za vouchers worth R2000 and R1000 respectively.

The question that they had to answer was, “Ads24’s unduplicated Sunday titles readership figure (including digital properties) of 7.8 million is equivalent to the population of, A: Uzbekistan, B: Lesotho or C: Israel?” In order to find the answer, readers of The Beat were required to examine the infographic insert through the red and blue lens provided to discover that the correct answer was C: Israel.

The Beat trade newspaper has been a huge hit amongst media agencies and a showcase for creativity in newspapers and the print medium. We are proud to soon be releasing our next edition through more exciting activations at agencies,” says Marise van der Lith, creative project manager at Ads24.

The Beat Afrikaans Reader Community edition will be launched on Friday, 16 October. Readers can look forward to articles by Adriaan Basson, editor-in-chief of Netwerk24 and previous editor of Beeld; Bun Booysens editor of Die Burger and Jaco Nel, a reporter from Rapport.

The Beat will be filled with tit bits of information, an infographic and yet another opportunity to win some prizes. There will also be another appearance by Adsman, the brainchild of Ads24 and Sunshinegun (Ads24’s creative partner), who was inspired by a European mime artist and is the personification of the importance and relevance of news within South African communities. The idea of a man dressed in a newspaper suit, casually being part of a group of people, symbolises all of Ads24’s titles and the connection these have with communities.

“We want to communicate in a memorable, fun and informative way to trade. Our message is that we have a special relationship with our readers and communities. We want to convince them that we can bring their brands to this same special place that we share with our communities. A type of magic is created in a scene when Adsman is completely welcome and comfortable amongst the communities,” says van der Lith.
