Scandal! on Valentine’s Day
Media 337
Eddie (Sandy Mokwena), The Voice’s alcoholic news editor has issues with booze, withdrawal symptoms, a medical scare, and cross-addiction which all requires the support and strength of his long-suffering wife, Maletsatsi (Joyce Skefu). Maletsatsi also has to cope with her daughter, NZH receptionist, Palesa (Refilwe Madumo) who is moving out to set up house with her boyfriend, private investigator, Fana (Welile Nzuza) after a bitter fight with her mom after discovering her mom’s former hidden life as a prostitute.
Maletsatsi’s stepdaughter, Lolo, who is the manager of RT’s restaurant/club, will finally manage to score a really nice boyfriend who’s perfect in almost every way, except for the fact that he prefers not to have sex.
The Voice’s junior reporter, Mangi (Kagiso Modupe) will work hard on his resentment of his newly discovered dad, acting NZH CEO, Daniel (Sello Maake ka Ncube). His mom, Thato (Rami Chuene), had a fling with Daniel before she married his half brother Stan (from whom she’s now divorced), and whom most everybody, until now, thought was Mangi’s biological father. Daniel, who regards his newly begotten son as a spoilt and whining loser, aims to make the boy a man.
Daniel and Nadia (Sorisha Naidoo), the Scandal! Editor, will break up following her discovery of Daniel’s betrayal of her to protect his newly discovered son. A new woman comes into his life and that will make normally nice Nadia nastily jealous.
Scandal magazine’s sexy creative art director, Jay-Jay (Daniel Hadebe) will attempt to woo the first true love of his life, nursing sister and total tramp Thato, on the Big Day of Love. But she’s not having any (and nor will he) because she might be pregnant. It will also have far reaching consequences on their relationship.
Well, at least Busi, Thato’s child by Vusi (Jay-Jay’s dead stepbrother), has something to celebrate on Valentine’s Day. It’s her first birthday and she’s completely recovered from her kidnapping ordeal of exactly one year ago.
Property entrepreneur Tino (Clint Brink), with his renewed passion for music, dreams of cutting the apron strings from his doting, domineering mother, Abbey (Michelle Maxwell), and moving onto his Next Big Idea (seeing as a recent business venture of his crashed to rock bottom). A new romance is on the cards for Tino - and no, this time round, it won’t be incestuous. But it will be explosively star-crossed.
NZH corporate strategist, Morongwe (Nthati Moshesh), goes out on an all-out, unexplained hate campaign against her father when he makes a surprise re-entry in her life. No love lost there. Mo’s husband - sales executive for The Voice, Alex (Shona Ferguson) - still bored by marriage and family life, will continue to seek excitement elsewhere.
Catch Scandal! From Monday to Thursdays at 19:30 on etv.
