Salt plays the role of Katherine Sterndale in this South African Period War Drama that is setting the entertainment industry abuzz.

She’s known for her roles in American television series like Entourage, CSI: Crime Investigation and Wildfire. In Britain, she’s played the role of the medical nurse, Sam Nicholls in Casualty and also appeared in the period television series The Musketeers, The Tudors and Beowulf.

In Modder en Bloed, Katherine Sterndale is the daughter of the Governor of St. Helena Island and she sympathises with the Boer prisoners, while she faces her own demons from the past.

Katherine is a suffragette (a woman who wants to bring about the vote through peaceful protest) and is horrified at the way in which Colonel Swannell is treating the Boers. As a result, she fights for the men’s dignity and also to ignite hope in them.

Modder en Bloed is set against the background of the Anglo Boer War and tells the story of a group of brave Boers who are imprisoned on St. Helena in the Atlantic Ocean. There they suffer under the cruelty of the British Imperialist Colonel Swannell (Grant Swanby) – and when one of their own’s life is in danger, they make a dangerous wager to play the most important game of their lives.

The film also boasts one of the biggest casts in a local production and includes South African actors like Stian Bam, Altus Theart, Edwin van der Walt, Deon Lotz, Bok van Blerk, Albert Maritz, David Louw, Albert Pretorius and Jacques Bessenger with roles by the British actors Patrick Connolly, Josh Myers and Nick Cornwall.

The film was produced by Dark Matter Studios (Llewelynn Greeff and Henk Pretorius – Leading Lady) and Collective Dream Films (Sean Else and Rudy Halgryn – Platteland). Modder en Bloed is directed by Sean Else.
