Kellogg’s has announced that beauty queen and TV presenter Cindy Nell and Mamelodi Sundowns’ midfielder Keagan Dolly will be its 2016 brand ambassadors.
Dolly will be joining South African beauty queen and mom of two, Nell, who joined the Kellogg’s Breakfasts For Better Days™ initiative in 2014 and who continues to support the feeding programme.
Renewing her support for another year, Nell will be travelling to schools across South Africa to meet children who have benefitted from a Kellogg’s balanced breakfast.
“Children cannot learn on an empty tummy. They cannot concentrate or even play. When their tummies are full with a healthy breakfast of cereal and milk they feel ready for the day. For many children, the Breakfasts for Better Days™ meal is the first thing they have eaten since lunch the previous day. It really makes all the difference to their learning and their futures,” said Nell.
This year’s new representative is Dolly, who is also set to lead South Africa’s U23 football team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
South Africa’s fast-rising soccer star has committed to support the Kellogg’s Breakfasts for Better Days™ initiative, and hopes to raise awareness of the hunger situation in South Africa and inspire children to pursue their dreams.
Dolly is the ideal role model for children and he strongly relates to the Kellogg’s programme. “When I grew up there were times I would also go to school without eating so I know how it feels to start the day hungry but still be expected to pay attention in class. I know the importance of fueling myself in order to become the best I can be. I want to prove to children that if I can make it anyone can make it, with a combination of the right attitude, hard work and perseverance,” said Dolly.
In a country where almost one in five children goes to school without breakfast every day Breakfasts for Better Days is helping to feed over 25 000 South African learners every school day. Going without breakfast has a detrimental effect on children’s health and their ability to concentrate in class. For the third consecutive year, Kellogg’s is aiming to change that statistic by dishing up a breakfast of cereal and milk to school children every school day, across Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, as well as the Eastern and Western Cape.
“We are thrilled to have Keagan and Cindy on board to inspire children across South Africa to achieve their dreams. We are fueling our future leaders with a balanced breakfast every school day to help them to learn and grow. We are delighted that our ambassadors are supporting the absolute critical importance of breakfast and that they will continue to give these children hope and inspiration so that they can achieve their dreams, with hard work and determination,” said Sylvia Radebe, head of corporate communications and public affairs, Kellogg’s South Africa.
The Kellogg’s Breakfast for Better Days™ initiative is part of Kellogg's global target to feed one billion servings of cereal and snacks by 2016.
