It was a small gathering, as craft beer festivals go, but that meant a more leisurely atmosphere and no long queues at the food stalls or the beer taps. It was an opportunity for the Sandton Convention Centre (SCC) to show off the food, drink and atmosphere that makes for a memorable, chic and trendy event, and a way of announcing that the venue is open for business.

General manager Shaun Bird said in a brief address, “One of the main, key functions of this event is to listen to what you guys are telling us. I’ve spent a lot of time running around all over the place, in America and Europe, and one of the key things that I brought back from that is the ability for them to make what their clients want a reality. And that is certainly one of the things that we want to bring into the SCC.”

He encouraged clients to discuss new ideas and initiatives, and to pick their brains. He added that they are busy integrating the SCC brand, increasing the interaction with hotels in the area going forward through a streamlined booking system.
