The South African edition of ACW will take place on Tuesday, 22 May and Friday, 25 May in Johannesburg and Cape Town under the theme 'Telling a balanced South African narrative: Trends and Insights'.

ACW is the premier gathering of communications professionals and thought leaders looking to impact the current narratives on Africa.

Powered by a virtual international team of communications professionals, ACW aims to convene communications leaders from various backgrounds across the world to critically assess the role of communications in Africa’s socio-economic development.

"Africa’s reputation at home and abroad affects the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), curbs tourism, shapes the perception of Africans living abroad in their adoptive countries, and fuels stereotypes that lead to various issues such as interethnic conflict and xenophobia on the continent."

"The impact, therefore, of communication in Africa's development cannot be underestimated," says ACW co-founder Harrison. ACW is open to all communications professionals from African countries and across the globe.

"Each year around Africa Day, a series of conferences and events will be organised by communications professionals and organisations in Africa, and across the world, to encourage African focused communications professionals to connect, engage, and reflect on the role of communications in Africa’s development. The South African edition of the event will feature a lecture sponsored by the IE business school on 'What we can learn from South American communications campaigns'.

ACW also aims to promote knowledge and professional development by hosting informative webinars and masterclasses, as well as providing practical tools on how Africa focused communicators can begin to advance more realistic narratives about Africa.

"The South African edition of ACW is a learning event that will bring together communications practitioners across all sectors, encouraging the sharing of lessons and insights and growing networks of collaboration with the aim of ensuring that we are constantly the practice of communications," says Nelisa Ngqulana, managing director of PR Trends ZA.
