“Gareth’s creative expertise and insight has been instrumental in positioning Publicis Machine as one of the country’s leading integrated communications agencies, making this an easy decision. I am confident that he is the right man, at the right time, to take this agency to the next level,” says John Dixon, CEO of Publicis Groupe Africa.

McPherson has been an integral part of the Publicis Machine creative team since the agency formed as ‘Machine’ in 2012.

According to the agency, he has effectively led it  creatively since its inception, guiding it through the ranks — from initial recognition as AdReview's Breakthrough Agency of the Year 2013 to currently ranking in the Top 10 Creative agencies in South Africa, and recently being placed in the top EMA agencies at Cannes.

McPherson’s work on a multitude of blue chip brands has won a host of local and international awards from the likes of the Loeries, Cannes, D&AD, Bookmarks and One Show.

“Our agency has always been built on creativity. It isn’t something we pull out of the workflow chart at stage four to add some colour to a client presentation. At Publicis Machine, we employ creative thinking at every level, solving brand problems with unique solutions that work, with the intent of them working well,” says McPherson .

McPherson has made several hires with the aim of  bolstering the agency’s ability to provide creative solutions, while Moagi Bodibe remains the agency’s chief strategy officer in Johannesburg.

“Along with new talent we’ve brought in, and our ambition, I think we are in a great space to succeed and drive further value for our clients,’’ concludes McPherson.
