The event will take place on Saturday, 30 March at Plantation Cafe (Shop 3, International Business Gateway, New Rd, Midrand, Johannesburg). It will commence at 13:00 and will end at 15:00.

‘She Matters’ will aim to create a space where women can be themselves, unapologetically — where they can vent without being judged, share their experiences, give advice to each other, form friendships, have fun, network, get exposed to business opportunities and also have informed conversations with other prominent female figures within different industries.
There will be keynote speakers at each event as well activities and tutorials. The topics (and their descriptions) at the She Matters event include:

Gender inequality: One of issues that women are faced with is gender inequality at home, and in society as a whole.  Although many years have passed, women are still having to fight for equality.

Career challenges: Women are still not getting equal pay, still being sexually harassed in the workplace and still not getting into positions of power despite them being more qualified than other male counterparts.

Freedom of expression: Society expects women to look, dress and behave in a way that is ‘acceptable’ to them.  Certain standards have been set for what is deemed ‘acceptable’ when it comes to how females choose to express themselves.

Abuse: Abuse against women and young girls in South Africa is a harsh reality. Articles frequently relay stories about females falling victim to physical, mental and sexual abuse.  This sometimes leads to death.

Mental wellness: Women go through unfortunate situations in silence with the fear of being criticised by the public, if, and when, they decide to speak out.  This results in stress, anxiety, depression and even suicide attempts.

Other topics that will be discussed include finance, health, fitness, relationships, fashion and beauty tips as well as hygiene.

The speakers at the event include:
  • Rhonda Adams (founder of Milk Management)
  • Thabisile M (founder of Cherry Blossom Nail Spa and blogger)
  • Zandi Finca (financial advisor, founder of FinCat Pop-Up Store and blogger)
  • Zinzyswa Mayekiso (social media influencer Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile (mental doctor and vice president of Mental Matters)
  • Zinhle Masango (fitness enthusiast, nutritionist, PCA Toned Figure South Africa Champion) Ladonna (make-up artist and vlogger).
Proceeds made from the ticket sales for each event will be donated to a home/organisation that cares for disadvantaged and abused young girls and women.
