The courtyard filled up from 8:30 until mid-afternoon as corporates, visitors and residents in the area stepped in to donate their time.

Joining forces with Morris, SASKO’s bakeries across the country aimed to make almost 10 000 sandwiches in 67 minutes for Mandela Day.

Each bakery identified several different charities in their respective areas to deliver sandwiches for lunch, along with extra loaves of bread.

Le-Anne Engelbrecht, the SASKO marketing executive, says, "At SASKO, we believe you can taste the care in our products. By taking 67 minutes [out of] our day to make sandwiches, [and] knead dough to bake on Mandela Day, we are showing the care."

"There are so many people who are not fortunate enough to have a mealtime to look forward to," adds Engelbrecht. "Small acts like this have a big effect, and we salute everyone who took time out of their day to assist in any way."
