"We do not know what we would have done if Shoprite did not dispatch its soup kitchen to our community," says Nhlanhla Ndoda, one of the community members affected by the fire.
"Shoprite made sure that we have one less thing to worry about: feeding our children for a few days," adds Ndoda.
"In these difficult times, the Shoprite Group is committed to giving a helping hand to the communities it serves, especially when disaster strikes. These are our customers — the core of our business — so we will always avail our resources to help," concludes Lunga Schoeman, CSI manager for the group.
Since the start of the national lockdown, the Shoprite Mobile Soup Kitchens have delivered over 3.7 million meals supporting more than 4 000 organisations throughout the country.
