"Almost 30 years into the democracy Madiba gifted to us, reflections on where we are and where we are not are so important," says Graham Moore, head of brand at TSIBA Business School.

"Mandela is a part of the soul of South Africa and we wanted to explore how we stay true to his legacy or reinvent ourselves to realise it, especially across different generations since 1994. This event explores these themes," adds Moore.

The event will see a panel conversation hosted by radio personality Kieno Kammies, co-founder of Innovation City, current head of culture of UCT Online High School and TSIBA Business School board member.

Invited to the panel is a group of South Africans who will explore the theme of rebuilding Mandela's South Africa. It includes:
  • Simon Susman, honorary president of Woolworths Holdings Limited, honorary professor of entrepreneurship at Stellenbosch University Business School and TSIBA board chairperson
  • Ross Faragher-Thomas, non-executive member and director of TSIBA Ignition Academy
  • Lunga Schoeman, TSIBA Alumnus and senior management at the Oceana Group, and
  • Munouwarrah Abdurahman, SRC chairperson, Allan Gray Orbis Fellow and co-founder of the student society at TSIBA Earth.

TSIBA HOUSE NDABENI, a new home to currently over 600 students is a wish fulfilment since founding TSIBA in 2004, an organisation that works to change the future of young people with its Global Sustainability Goals of:
  • no poverty
  • quality education
  • decent work, and
  • economic growth for generations ahead.

It hopes to expand the numbers to 2 000 students by 2030, which will be achieved through multiple business and philanthropy partnerships.

Since its inception, TSIBA has awarded more than 8 500 full annual tuition scholarships to students who would otherwise have been unable to get access to higher education for financial reasons.

Over 80% of TSIBA students are first-generation tertiary education entrants who aspire to transcend poverty and have been raised in resource-constrained communities; 87% of TSIBA Business Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree graduates are either employed or pursuing postgraduate studies.

'TSIBA Founders' Gift' campaign has been positioned to encourage and inspire support from all partners, friends and investors to fund the campus acquisition and restoration costs.
