Crocs SA showcased its dedication to creating a positive impact beyond a fashion ethos with its partnership with Reach For A Dream, culminating in a donation of R120 000 to the foundation and a Ladies Luncheon held last week in Johannesburg.
The event was held on Friday, 12 September at the Houghton Hotel with over 400 guests in attendance. It served as an opportunity for the Reach For A Dream Foundation and its corporate partners to raise funds for children battling life-threatening illnesses. The event displayed the foundation's commitment to brightening the lives of those who need it most, and to create a space where love, empathy and hope were at the forefront, says the duo.
In addition to the monetary donation, Crocs SA contributed 400 pairs of Crocs that will be delivered to the children, adds the duo.
"The work that this organisation does, giving children the chance to dream, to imagine and to experience joy in the face of immense challenges, is nothing short of extraordinary. It reminds all of us of the power of kindness, of community and of believing in something bigger than ourselves," says William Pearson, Crocs South Africa's Brand Communications Manager. "It is truly an honour for Crocs to be able to contribute to this mission."
Since 1988, The Reach For A Dream Foundation has brought hope, joy and healing to countless children by encouraging them to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses. The organisation seeks to alleviate the strain that a critical illness places on these children and their families by making their dreams come true and giving them a reason to believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for, says the duo.
The event opened with a raffle featuring a variety of generously donated items, giving guests the chance to win prizes while raising funds for the foundation. Guests also enjoyed a postcard station, where they could write heartfelt messages to each child receiving a pair of Crocs, and a bloom bar stocked with over 400 donated flowers for creating personal bouquets inspired by the vibrant colours of Crocs and Reach For A Dream, adds the duo.
Additionally, participants found their way to the Crocs' pop-up store — where they selected their favourite Crocs and personalised them with a selection of their most preferred Jibbitz. The day concluded with a photo opportunity, giving attendees the chance to capture memorable moments at dedicated photo areas, says the duo.
"It was a meaningful day filled with joy and purpose, and Crocs is honoured to have been part of such a meaningful partnership. To be part of those moments has been deeply touching for all of us. We hope that in some small way, this partnership brought smiles, sparked hope and showed each child just how valued and loved they truly are," Pearson adds.
In the end, the luncheon was more than just an event, but also proof of the power of kindness and collective action. Through this partnership, Crocs SA and Reach For A Dream gave children more than shoes or donations; they gave them reasons to smile and a belief in brighter tomorrows, concludes the duo.
