On Saturday, 20 September, Blok hosts its third annual Spring Clean along the Sea Point beaches, together with Pristine Earth Collective, Statistics SA, and local Neighbourhood Heroes — Norfolk Deli, Crumbs & Cream and Paris Cape Town, says the company.
Over 70 volunteers collect 53 bags of litter, leaving the coastline cleaner and greener. Nicola Jowell, Atlantic Seaboard Ward Councillor joins in, underscoring how shared responsibility helps public spaces thrive, adds the company.
"The Blok Spring Clean is about more than picking up litter," says Troy Squires, Head of Marketing at Blok. "It's about coming together as a community, and keeping the places and spaces, we share, clean."
Blok has also launched Around the Blok — a call to explore the neighbourhood and a celebration of 10 years of shaping spaces and enabling connection. This is an open invitation to anyone in Cape Town to experience the city differently, says the company.
Blok encourages people to grab a free Around the Blok t-shirt, take a stroll, cycle, run, bring your dog, push a pram, or head out with the whole family. Whether its done in a day, a weekend, or over a month, the journey is theirs, says the company.
Free t-shirts can be collected at SIXONN, 6 Norfolk Road, or THREE43ONB, 343 Bellevue Road, both in Sea Point, along with a list of the locations, initiatives and Neighbourhood Heroes to visit, adds the company.
"Around the Blok is about rediscovering the neighbourhood with fresh eyes and from a different perspective," says Jacques van Embden, CEO of Blok. "It brings together culture, connection and community, reminding us that city living is about more than buildings — it's about the life between them."
Together, the Spring Clean and Around the Blok aims to showcase Blok's commitment to building not just homes, but communities, concludes the company.
