Westgate caring for elderly Roodepoort residents
Publicity 189
Hearing about the plight of elderly residents at Klein Helderkruin retirement village in Roodepoort sleeping under newspapers to keep warm touched a nerve with management at Westgate, the super regional shopping centre.
Which is why Rob Thomas, marketing manager at Westgate, is making the first and hopefully not the last donation of blankets and clothing to Istelle Hutchinson, founder and co-owner of Altefyn, the home industry store in Westgate.
Istelle was instrumental in highlighting the plight of these residents through her work of providing pensioners with free refreshments on Tuesday mornings at Altefyn. Istelle has regular contact with the retirement villages in the area and will pass on all the donations to those needing it the most.
Rob says, “Apart from making this donation, we are also be appealing to Westgate’s shoppers to assist by donating blankets and warm clothes which we can pass onto Istelle to ensure that these elderly residents can stay warm during these last cold winter spells.”
Shoppers at Westgate can bring these donations to the Centre Management Offices, on the upper level near Pick n Pay, where shoppers can simply ask to see a member of the marketing team, who will then keep their donation for safekeeping until collection.
For further information about the blanket drive, contact Agnes Malesa, marketing assistant at Westgate, during office hours on 011 768 0616.
