Established 16 years ago, Purple Plumm Brand Communications is a company with passion as one of its core values. This passion is evident in all facets of the business – from going above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of each individual client to community upliftment, skills development and training.
“The company identified level one BEE accreditation as one of our main objectives in May of 2009 and we have consistently been striving to achieve this over the past two years,” explains financial director, Celeste Summerton. “September 2011 saw us being awarded level two accreditation and we are confident that this will be upgraded to level one by 2012.”

“Our main focus areas have been management control, skills development and training, preferential procurement, employment equity and social economic development.”

The company has implemented a number of staff training days as part of their skills development and the option of further training and skills development is always available to all staff members. In addition the company currently has a learnership agreement with 19-year-old Ellen Makgoba. Purple Plumm is sponsoring her education and in return she will be employed to head up the human resources department at the company once she has qualified. “We believe in helping the younger generation as they are the future of our country and their potential is limitless. It is the culture of Plumm to nurture and develop potential – the BEE accreditation is simply the cherry on top for us,” says Summerton.

“We are constantly reviewing and developing our BEE strategy as it is beneficial not only to us but to our clients as well - both potential and existing - as it opens the door for new contracts, tenders and suppliers. Going forward we will be placing specific focus on the development of middle management and continue building on our skills development at Plumm. As a ‘girls only’ company, we have a huge passion for individual and team growth; this approach is what keeps us motivated and ensures that our passion and dedication is fed consistently.”
