Continuing their collaboration, Jet and Nashua started the New Year in much the same spirit when they donated school shoes to the 193 school-going children of Kliptown Youth Programme in Kliptown, Gauteng.

The year got off to an equally great start for the school-going children of St. Joseph and St. Nicholas Homes in Westbury, Johannesburg when the partnership donated school bags to each of the homes.

More recently the Nashua Children's Charity Foundation arranged a trip to Sun City for the children of Thuthukani Centre in Ivory Park, Gauteng. An outing that was made all the more special after Jet Stores donated vouchers so the children could each get a new swimming costume.

Ferried to and from Sun City by Future Coaches, the excited youngsters all received a breakfast snack and goodie bag to enjoy en route thanks to Nashua North East’s Dean Naidoo.

The Valley of Waves team were on hand to meet the group when they arrived quickly set up camp for their charges —umbrellas, back rests, towels and life jackets were distributed while the kids raced off to the change rooms to don their new bathing suits.

The promise of tasty hamburgers courtesy of Steers eventually drew the children out of the water, though not for long. After one last swim and a round of ice creams purchased by NCCF, the happy and memorable day finally drew to close.

Says Ephraim Mamabolo, Jet Club manager, “Care centres and programmes like these all play a vital role, not only by caring for these children, but through the hope they are spreading across South Africa. We trust that the small part we play will have a positive impact by making our community aware of the extraordinary work people are doing.”
