Founded as a registered charity and non-profit organisation, the cabin crew and staff of Australia’s largest domestic and international airline, Qantas, assists locals overseas on their days off.
SIZA is designed as a project that gives children from low-income, homeless or refugee backgrounds the necessary early childhood development skills. For some children at SIZA, full emergency schooling is provided for those identified by the community as most critically in need. Moreover, attendance at SIZA also means the child receives a nutritious main meal on a daily basis, funded separately by the QCCT on a monthly basis.
Over the years SIZA has been subjected to numerous challenges that time and again were alleviated by the helping hands of the QCCT volunteers.
During the upcoming outreach the crew will meet the children and staff at SIZA for a ‘working bee day’ during which the volunteers will upgrade the school’s premises, paint murals, donate blankets and toys – and spreading joy in the process.
Equipment and material for this outreach, and others, are funded by the QCCT’s charity fund which is dependent on various donations from individuals and corporations globally. Appletiser Australia has added their support by making a donating to the QCCT’s charity fund for every can of Appletiser sold.
In support of this relationship, and recognising the brand’s South African heritage, team members of Appletiser South Africa will join the QCCT volunteers on their outreach, adding refreshments and extra helping hands to the day.
Says Andrea Shuttleworth of Appletiser South Africa: “Appletiser Australia’s support of QCCT reflects the spirit of giving that we also share in South Africa. Not only do we pay homage to Appletiser’s roots by uplifting the community, but it is also a way of illustrating our appreciation for the airline’s on-going support by putting our weight behind an initiative valued by both Appletiser and Qantas.”
Appletiser added that they would urge do-gooders to assist with this project – even in the smallest way - by emailing
