Durban-based public relations agency Hunt PR has been appointed as media liaison consultancy for the Nicholas Rey Foundation Trust. The Trust provides financial and other assistance to individuals injured in horse-related accidents. It will be launched to the Gauteng public at a spectacular event in Johannesburg on 1 September. Hunt PR will handle pre- and post-event publicity, as well as exclusively managing its publicity in the Greater Durban region. Launched in KwaZulu Natal in 2005 by avid horse lover Ricky Smit, the Nicholas Rey Foundation Trust bears testament to the indomitable spirit of 42-year old Nicholas Rey. Son of former Miss World Penny Coelen Rey and husband Micky Rey, Nicholas was a South African polo player who suffered a tragic polo accident in June 2004 that left him severely brain damaged, paralysed and able to communicate solely through blinking. Despite his injuries he remains an avid horse lover, and interaction with horses forms part of his physical therapy. Smit comments, “The Nicholas Rey Foundation Trust is truly a remarkable organisation and one that is obviously very close to my heart. It was essential for us to work closely with a publicity firm which would offer sensitivity to our unique needs as an organisation, as well as complete professionalism in all dealings with the media. Hunt PR appeared the obvious choice and we are certain that this will be the beginning of a very strong partnership”. For more information, contact [email protected].
