“Retroviral has consistently delivered award-winning work since we launched four years ago,” says co-founder Mike Sharman. “We have been changing the way that brands engage with consumers by using social media and online channels to share great content. Winning this award with Joe Public, out of a field of 19 finalists in our category, is a really great achievement for us.

“Interestingly, the ‘Social Media for Public Relations’ category had the most finalists of all the categories in the 2014 PRISA PRISM Awards. This is a clear indication that social media simply cannot be ignored in an effective public relations campaign.”

The agency’s previous Gold PRISA PRISM Awards were for its Nando’s ‘Introducing our CEO (Chicken Excellence Officer)’ campaign in 2011, the Nando’s ‘Last Dictator Standing’ campaign and its work for NGO The Put Foot Foundation in 2012, and the Nando’s ‘25 Reasons’ campaign in 2013. Retroviral was also named the Small Agency of the Year in 2013, in recognition of its significant achievements in that year, after taking a Silver PRISA PRISM Award in this category the previous year. Retroviral also took a Bronze PRISA PRISM Award for its #NoRegretFriday campaign for SAB in 2012.

“Winning a sixth Gold PRISA PRISM Award affirms that remarkable content created off a clear strategy and seeded to the right people will yield great brand results,” says Sharman. “Retroviral has grown to a team of eight remarkable people who are passionate about the work that we do. We are confident that we will grow even further in the coming months.”
