It’s through this project that eight fashion students from ‘Studio 05 School of Fashion’ were engaged to think out of the box by using unconventional materials while learning about recycling and how many things in their everyday lives can be reused. The show was a display of fashion using what would otherwise be trash. Students were judged by the lecturers of Studio 05 on the amount of trash materials used, creativity, neatness and style.

The Trashion Show was intended to provide all non-fashion Stores within Fourways Mall the platform to be part of the project, but it was also meant to raise environmental awareness, promote diversity within the Shopping Centre and encourage people/designers to think about new ways to reuse materials and reduce waste.

I’m interested in environmental issues, so the Trashion Show project is a real creative outlet that serves as a medium for all our Tenants to take part in, and as a Shopping Centre we fully support the underlying message of the show,” said Fourways Mall centre manager, Lynnette Robinson.

The 2014 show also had guests entertained by performers from Dance Web. Dance Web’s long and established pedigree, focus on perfection and the pure enjoyment of dance, makes it the perfect place to come and enjoy the expression of one’s body that is dancing, no matter one’s level of experience.
