“Our contribution supports the national tree planting campaign. The trees will improve the quality of life in the communities,” said Pam Darwin, vice president for Africa, ExxonMobil Exploration Company.

The initiative will provide employment and skills transfer for 60 community educators, who will be employed for a period of 12 months in the programme.

“We are delighted with this partnership, it is going to assist communities to be greener so that residents can have a healthier and more sustainable future,” said Food & Trees for Africa program manager, Tinashe Mutoredzanwa.

The community educators will assist with the programme’s implementation by providing environmental awareness education and informing the communities how to preserve the health of the trees. Additionally, they will receive training on gardening skills which can be used to startup their own small gardening businesses.

The trees will give shelter, shade and provide a source of food. Food and Trees for Africa is providing the trees.
