Shoprite and Checkers are delighted to have been able to donate over R2.4-million to charities throughout the country in another of its annual festive season drives. During December 2014 Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores throughout the country provided a gift-wrapping service for gifts bought at its stores.
Christmas gifts were wrapped in exchange for a nominal donation and proceeds collected were donated to selected local charities in each store’s vicinity. The generosity of customers saw a staggering amount of more than R1.7-million raised in the Gauteng province alone.
Shoprite and Checkers are proud to have been able to assist in providing a channel through which our customers could assist these charities. The gift wrapping service provides convenience to customers, is a way to make a gift more special and ultimately adds value to the lives of the less fortunate.
Shoprite Checkers believes in taking an active, responsible interest in the communities around it. With initiatives like these the supermarket group not only strives towards making Christmas merrier with great value products but also through social upliftment in the communities that support them.
