, getting their tongues wagging from the word ‘go’ is vital!
They’re consuming content fast and in great quantities. That’s why your content on social media needs to be short, to the point and, most importantly, shareable
. So, how do you do that? Lettuce get right into:
1. Cook up something that’s worth sharing
Remember that post with the giant wall of text that you shared on Instagram? Yeah, neither do we. The thing is, when it comes to creating something shareable, it’s best to avoid purely text-related posts or lengthy videos — remember, you want to grab their attention as quickly as possible for the shortest amount of time.
Think about it: When you’re scrolling through your newsfeed, the first thing to grab your attention is movement, colour or something aesthetically pleasing. This makes images and short, bite-sized videos the name of the game, which is why it’s important to create content that is visually oriented.
Your consumers also want something that’s either relevant to what’s happening now or something that pertains to their personal interests or wellbeing. Nothing says ‘shareable’ like content that speaks to your personality or your friends. You want to create something that has your audience laughing and saying ‘literally me” or “this is so us”. So, what’s the lesson here? Memes and inspiring quotes are of the utmost importance.
2. Scarf down those trends
Nothing says ‘digestible’ like a quick snippet of the latest news to keep you ‘in the know’. Thus, you need to scarf down and utilise any relevant trends before your competitors get their grabby hands on it!
Whether it’s a relevant news story that came out or the latest social media video trend on TikTok, it’s important to stay up to date with current events so you know what to share on your newsfeed.
To find topics that are trending, look at the ‘trending’ hashtags on your social media platforms. And remember, as with all trendy topics, your audience is key. So if you’re a brand that focuses on pet products, your content needs to represent who you’re targeting: animal lovers. You need to keep their interests in mind, and their interests will most definitely be their pets.
Looking at this recent TikTok challenge, you could have your brand join in, for example, by creating your own ‘#TellMeWithoutTellingMe’ video, such as “tell me your dog loves our toy products without telling me”. The key is to make the trends relate to your industry.
3. Give your consumers a ‘look under the table’
If you love sushi, then you know how amazing it is to actually watch the chefs make it at your favourite restaurant, and it’s the same with your content! Consumers love to see where the magic happens, which is why you should show them a ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage of what your employees get up to.
Whether it’s a short clip of you and your teammates grabbing pizza or an inside look at an upcoming product or service, allowing your audience to guzzle down a glimpse of your ‘human’ side can only do your brand good.
That’s also why you should encourage employee advocacy; the more your staff shares stories about the brand they work for, the better your stats will be!
4. Keep your content ‘lite’
Easy on those serious tones. Just like every salad comes with a ‘lite’ dressing, each one of your brand messages should come with a sprinkle of fun and a dash of humour — keep it light.
Especially considering the current state of the world, consumers need something that’s going to uplift them and raise their spirits during difficult times.
Think of it as a nice soothing cup of coffee on a dark rainy day. Your consumers want to indulge in something that’s going to make them feel good and give them that nice release of happy endorphins.
