In 2012, KFC changed their tagline to “So Good” encompassing the delicious new product offerings and ranges available on the menu that were new for KFC. This year, they has gone back to what it is known for: being Finger Lickin’ Good! The tagline is being re-introduced worldwide.

“KFC knows that ‘It’s Finger Lickin Good!’ resonates with our customers, and the licking of fingers after a great meal is a habit for many South Africans,” says Mike Middleton, chief marketing officer for Africa.

“KFC is a brand that has been in SA for over forty years and our Original Recipe® chicken is still cooked the same way the Colonel first prepared it all those years ago. The secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices ensures our freshly prepared chicken is what people have come to know and love! Bringing back 'Its Finger Lickin’ Good!' is a way for us to continue delivering chicken and other products that are truly Finger Lickin’ Good,” he says.

KFC celebrates the return of “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good!” with a new television advert that bursts onto screens in August. Created by Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg and directed by Keith Rose of Velocity films, the advert aims to evoke the Finger Lickin’ Good taste of KFC in a unique and unexpected way.

“This advert really celebrates the moments in life that unite us all,” says Middleton. “It features a full adult size themed play park, created at Church Square in Cape Town, where families are enjoying a picnic with fun games and fairground entertainment, including roundabouts and hopscotch. All the elements create upbeat music as the park comes to life.”

Middleton adds that KFC will also take to digital and social media and engage with fans on their Finger Lickin’ Good moments in life, with many prizes and vouchers being given away. Consumers will be sharing moments with those special to them with a KFC bucket.

“We’re at our happiest when life’s simple moments give us the freedom to be ourselves - simple moments with the uninhibited Finger Lickin’ Good taste of KFC,” he says.
