The incentive is part of FNB’s ongoing focus on customer centricity. The data rewards aim to encourage FNB customers to utilise digital channels and the right banking products.
As an example, a monthly reward of one gigabyte is given each month to any customer who makes a financial transaction on the FNB App. Large data rewards are given for taking up any of the newly launched FNB ConeXis smartphone deals or taking up qualifying FNB banking products. Each FNB customer can get up to 160 gigabytes of data.
The data incentives can only be used on the FNB Connect network and will be free of charge for customers. It aims to be over and above the eBucks rewards, which qualifying FNB customers get for using the bank’s digital ecosystem and other eligible products.
Dr Christoph Nieuwoudt, CEO of FNB consumer, says, "The festive season offer is a first of its kind in South Africa as no other bank or telco can provide such a customer-centric incentive through an integrated digital experience. There’s no doubt that FNB customers get maximum value when using FNB Connect, which is incorporated in the bank’s ecosystem."
"Banking via the FNB app has a number of benefits for our customers, including exercising full control over the wide range of banking and telco services, while containing costs. Through the FNB app, Connect customers can manage their SIMs as well as the usage of data, voice, and SMS from a single digital platform. This is a major convenience for individuals or families with multiple SIMs to not just track spend but set auto-top ups and maximum spend limits for each SIM," adds Nieuwoudt.
Shadrack Palmer, chief commercial officer at FNB Connect, says that they usually see a spike in data usage and the uptake of certain banking products during festive season. "Our unique offer does not only help customers to stay connected, it will also help them stretch their festive season budgets by saving on additional data costs. The timing of the data give away is in tune with the needs of South African consumers at this time of the year," adds Palmer.
In September, FNB Connect introduced the ConeXis X2 and A2 smartphones with packages aiming to advance the bank’s digital migration strategy. FNB customers can pick up Connect SIMs and packages at any of the FNB branches or order them from the FNB online banking platform without additional documentary requirements.
