The mascot is based on the Mauritian Echo Parakeet, one of the nine species of bird endemic to Mauritius. It was named ‘Krouink’ because it echoes the actual sound made by the parakeet.

"Having had a close brush with extinction, with an estimated number of eight to 12 individuals remaining at its lowest point, it has rebounded to become a population of over 500," says the team at FCB Cread.

"With this remarkable story of survival, the Echo Parakeet proved to be an unmatched choice for the mascot, evoking tenacity and the will to survive, a perfect embodiment of the fighter spirit," the team adds.
