After keeping South Africa in suspense for most of the day, Castle Lite took ownership and released a video on its social media platforms, which revealed that its Republic of Extra Cold is back and will be 'somewhere in the Atlantic ocean' on Saturday, 28 December.

"We are thrilled to finally let the secret out that Castle Lite is building the Republic of Extra Cold in the Atlantic Ocean," says brand director Silke Bucker. "The brand has worked tirelessly over the last few months to make sure that it lives up to its purpose of unlocking your best life right now. And what better way than our very own eco-friendly iceberg in the middle of the Atlantic?"

"We aim to surprise our consumers by making the impossible possible. The previous Republic of Extra Cold was on our own island, so we really had to push boundaries to up our game for this one. And here we are we in the middle of the Atlantic," concludes Bucker.

The award-winning and internationally-recognised South African actress and TV presenter Pearl Thusi will serve as president for a second term. The role of 'minister of vibes' will be filled by comedian Donovan Goliath.

Alongside Goliath will be the 'minister of beats' — radio superstar Ayanda MVP — who will, together with the president, assemble a line-up of performers that will headline at the Republic of Extra Cold. Additionally, fitness fanatic and personal trainer Junior Khoza will be the 'minister of summer bod' and TV presenter and style star Boity Thulo will be the 'minister of drip'.
