According to Lindt, its new range of South Africa-inspired Hello slabs have the same taste but now come in locally designed packaging.
The brand says that the graphics aim to capture 'the beauty of South Africa's cities and pay homage to the splendor of the country we call home'.
Each of the four flavours in the 100g range have been dedicated to a different city in the country. These include:
- Cookies and Cream: Johannesburg
- Strawberry Cheesecake: Pretoria
- Caramel Brownie: Cape Town, and
- Crunchy Nougat: Durban
"From Johannesburg to Cape Town and Pretoria to Durban, we're honouring the colours, people and sights of the rainbow nation with our brand-new packaging," says the team at Lindt.
"Each flavour features different South Africa-inspired graphics enthused by city skylines, events, landmarks and site-seeing attractions, which are easily recognisable to citizens of the country and tourists. The packaging was designed locally and captures the beauty of each city perfectly," adds the team.
The Johannesburg editionJohannesburg's design incorporates the CBD cityscape and the Hillbrow tower. The decommissioned Orlando power station, which is turned into a bungee jump site, 'adds fun, playfulness and movement', according to Lindt.
The Pretoria editionThe design on the Pretoria edition features the Union Buildings as a historical feature, along with the large granite Voortrekker Monument, commemorating the Voortrekkers.
The Cape Town editionThe design for this edition features Table Mountain, the Cape Town Stadium (resembling the traditional hats worn by Venda women) and scenes from
Tweede Nuwe Jaar. The Durban editionThe edition features the Moses Mabhida Stadium and boasts the rich history in the Zulu and Xhosa culture. The warrior's multi-coloured and decorated shield and spear are used as focal icons in the design.
According to the team at Lindt, the packaging designs are meant to support and give back to the cities. For each limited-edition slab purchased, Lindt has indicated that it will donate R1 to hospitals within the city depicted on the packaging. This is to say thank you for their efforts towards South Africans.
