The latest edition of the New Generation Awards was held on Friday, 25 September. The awards took place online, via a live stream, which digital marketing professionals from all over the country tuned in to watch.

Arc Interactive, which was nominated in eight categories, received one Gold and one Bronze. The agency's Gold award of the evening was given for their Dis-Chem App, in the Most innovative App category. This category recognises apps that offer extensive functionality and represent 'outstanding and pioneering innovation' in the field of app development.

The Dis-Chem app boasts features that allow users to redeem virtual loyalty points, receive medical reminders, compare product prices and purchase once-off and repeat medication.

With well over 100 000 organic installs across devices to date, the Dis-Chem app has led the way by understanding the needs of its users and bringing convenience and ease to their lives, says the agency.

Arc Interactive also won Bronze in the Blogging Excellence category, for their work on the Choma site for HIVSA. This category recognises the most interactive blog by an agency, measured by audience engagement and participation. In this category, a Silver and Gold were awarded to Flow Communications and New Media respectively.

The agency says that for years, Choma magazine has been the go-to resource for millions of young girls, looking to access reliable information and advice on relationships, health and more, all for the purposes of reducing HIV transmission among this vulnerable group.

Arc Interactive managing partner Julia Goller says, "I'm so proud that we got to be a part of the New Gen Awards this year. As always, we're happy to be delivering award-winning work for our mobile app clients such as Dis-Chem, as well as the impact on young women's lives through the work we do for Choma. I'm proud of our amazing team and their consistency in putting out excellent work. They make ARC what it is today — an exceptional team."
