The conference will be held at the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa between Wednesday, 25 September and Friday, 27 September with the Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference and the Marketing Society of Kenya's symposium.

According to the event, these events will bring together a tangible showcase of how ICT can help drive marketing strategies through the best use of data, business intelligence and machine learning.

Hermawan Kartajaya, who is a globally recognised visionary in modern marketing, will be opening the plenary event for both conferences. Kartajaya is renowned for his collaboration with Philip Kotler, the Father of Modern Marketing, in co-authoring twelve influential books since 1998.

As the founder and chair of MCorp, Southeast Asia's leading professional services firm in marketing consulting, research and training, as well as the holding company of MarkPlus Incorporated and MarkPlus Institute, he has played a pivotal role in shaping marketing practices across the region, according to the event.

"Kartajaya's visionary contributions have earned him esteemed accolades, including recognition as one of the '50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing' by the United Kingdom's Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2003, and the Distinguished Global Leadership Award from the Pan-Pacific Business Association at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2009," says Helen McIntee, AMC's president.

"To have Kartajaya join us will set the stage for a fantastic conference," McIntee adds.

According to the event, Kartajaya's topic is 'Reimagining Operational Excellence — Inspirations from Asia', which is based on an upcoming book he is co-authoring.

Kartajaya has also been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement in Marketing Award from Jawa Pos, an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa in 2010) from ITS Surabaya, and Honorary Fellowship Awards from the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) and the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM).

McIntee says that Dr Syed Ferhat Anwar, president of the Asia Marketing Federation — who has published more than 75 articles in international and national journals as well as having written three major books on business management — has been in the teaching profession for 37 years.

"Anwar's vast experience as well as his work with A2I with focus on strategies for SMART Bangladesh and the application of 4IR technologies fits perfectly with the evolution of technology and its increasing influence on marketing," McIntee adds.

According to the event, Anwar will be addressing delegates on the important topic of 'Building a Global Marketing Community: the role of unified associations in fostering a sense of community amongst marketers worldwide'.

Moreover, fellow and president of the Zambia Institute of Marketing Mwewa Besa will be discussing the topic of 'Financial Implications of Crossing Borders'.

"With more than 20 years of expertise in academia, marketing, investment and banking, Besa brings his international experience to bear when it comes to customer centricity, business transformation and cost containment," says McIntee.

The 2024 AMC theme is 'Brand Resilience amidst economic uncertainty'.
