The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) is the official representative body for the communications and advertising profession in South Africa. Communications has evolved into an exciting hybrid of interactive brand activation, new content and more, and the ACA represents companies in this profession to government; media; and the public. It is a voluntary body formed both by, and for the industry, focused on and committed to self regulation, and to defend the highest standards of ethical practice. Originally created to improve the credibility of the business, the association now represents the country's most creative and successful agencies.
The ACA welcomes marketers seeking an excellent advertising agency. The ACA believes that unethical conduct is damaging to the advertiser, the medium and the practitioner involved, and is furthermore detrimental to the image of advertising as an effective and acceptable marketing tool in a modern economy. All the agencies listed in the Association's database are member agencies who have committed themselves to the principles; disciplines; and ethics embodied in the ACA code of conduct (which includes a Transformation charter; pitch guidelines; and the ASA code of advertising practice).
The ACA has committed itself to improving and strengthening the advertising profession through counseling and shared experiences. It works with national and provincial government to promote agency and industry transformation, and is committed to our communities and the development of new talent through our Corporate Social Responsibilities.
Within the profession, the ACA is committed to:
- Improving and strengthen the advertising agency business in South Africa by counseling members on operations and management and by providing the shared experience of many to each;
- Representing and promote the interests of member advertising agencies as principals in business; and
- Encouraging the highest creative and business standards and service associated with a professional body.
