“The theme of the video is a long-lasting party kicking off with Stoan and Speedy on a soccer field in Newtown and chewing life large all the way through to the Kalawa Jazmee Lounge. It’s light-hearted and inspired, celebrating our country and its people never burning out,” says Doug Place, Senior Brand Manager Chewing Gum Cadbury South Africa.

After working together in the mid to late nineties as founding members of Bongo Maffin and several collaborations on each other’s solo projects, Stoan and Speedy have reunited to produce this musical project as a duo.
Never Burn Out is the second single from their album,
The Second Son Rise, and is currently at number two on the
YFM and
MetroFM charts. The song is a remake of legendary Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse’s track,
Burn Out.
Hotstix encapsulates Stimorol’s ‘long lasting flava’ attributes as he is a true legend in the South Africa music industry and makes a cameo appearance in the video along with DJ Vetkuk; Mahoota; and Vukani of Skomplazi fame (from dance group, Durban Mix). Mabuse was also featured in Stimorol’s 2009 Flavas that Last campaign with hip hop sensation, HHP.
“The making of this video has been a great experience. Stimorol has been supporting local music for a while now. Its slogan, 'Flavas that Last', is not just a testament of our music, but a testament to the support Stimorol gives back to local artists and their music,” says Stoan.

The
Never Burn Out video was produced by Pilot Films, which has established a great partnership with Stimorol. Together they have also recently produced Mr Selwyn’s music video,
Get em up, off his album,
Foundation. Adding to its credentials, Pilot Films has also produced the popular and much talked about music video for JR,
Show Dem (Make da Circle Beeger).
The final word belongs to Speedy: “We are so excited about this video, we felt that
Never Burn Out was a people’s track and therefore we took it to the people of Soweto where 80% of the video was shot. Our fans love our new album and we are fully booked with gigs till the end of July. We want to thank everyone who follows our music.”
An interesting aside, the
Never Burn Out track has been chosen to be on the Bafana Bafana World Cup CD, which celebrates an array of local South African music talent.
