The Icon Brands Survey, conducted by TGI, in association with City Press and Rapport, present brands which are ubiquitous. ICON brands are quintessentially brands that are used by South Africans irrespective of race, creed or colour.

The largest of its kind in the country, the Icon brand survey by TGI saw 15 000 face-to-face interviews conducted with South African consumers and measured the usage of 8000 + brands in 42 different product categories.

These are brands that define a common experience, often on a daily basis, to which South Africans are dedicated to in a real sense. Icons are described as the object of great devotion and attention. The SA Brand Icon survey gives voice to those brands to which South Africans are firmly committed.

Dulux has a strong and rich heritage among all South Africans and is firmly entrenched as a serious player in the South Africa market. It is in fact Dulux’s loyal consumers who ensured that Dulux was voted number one in the paint category for a second year in a row. “We have to ask ourselves which brands unite us as a nation and which brands are used and loved by South Africans across the age, income, race and language spectrums? The Icon Brand Survey by TGI answers these questions for us,” explains Target Group Index client service director, Maria Petousis.
