The Shell South Africa and Pragma team of Shaun Fourie (Pragma), Lyronne Sigamoney (Pragma), Haroon Coovadia (Shell Sponsor), Richard Hunter (Shell) and Hamish Lawrence (SKM - Sinclair Knight Merz) won third place and each walked away with an iPad Mini.

Fourie, supply chain manager at Pragma says, "The establishment of the LCSC was to align ownership of the Shell, SKM, Pragma and ERM contractor safety plan and drive delivery through visible leadership by all LCSC members. This was achieved by promoting, developing and implementing HSSE activities and also contributing to the community."

"Furthermore, LCSC’s knowledge of how tools should be implemented in the market and proper interpretation to deliver as well as LCSC’s better understanding of local issues and involvement to incorporate these in the implementation phase across all regions, also played a part," Fourie adds.

"LCSC’s further provided feedback to the Global Contractor Safety Council so that their experiences and initiatives could be shared with other markets. Lastly, LCSC’s established the HSSE mindset, behavior, culture, new initiatives and innovations at Shell local contractors to achieve Goal Zero - no harm to people, assets, environment and reputation," concluded Fourie.

Coovadia, network delivery manager, Shell SA Marketing Limited, adds, “The award is a manifestation of a commitment to making the partnership model work. Contractor safety remains Shell’s biggest risk. With Pragma as our FMC, I’m confident that together we’re going to do even more in the future. The award is the perfect platform to fill us with a renewed sense of energy and purpose. It’s a reminder that there is no shortcut to laser sharp focus and execution. A special thanks to the Pragma team.”

Sigamoney, FMC HSSE manager at Pragma says, “We really value this recognition by Shell SA. We’re committed to the continued improvement of HSSE on Shell sites, and also in the broader South African community.”
