Bert Lopes named head of Advisory for BDO SA

BDO SA has announced the appointment of BDO Johannesburg managing partner, Bert Lopes to head of Advisory of its South African firm, effective immediately. “Lopes is the perfect fit for the role and has demonstrated this during his temporary stint spent fulfilling the duties as an acting Head of Advisory for the past few months,” says Mark Stewart, CEO, BDO South Africa.
Lopes joined BDO in 2010 as an audit partner, having been a partner at Moore Stephens since 1998. Lopes qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995 and possesses a wealth of experience covering a wide spectrum of clients with which he has developed strong working relationships. His client base ranges from subsidiaries of listed companies, large private clients, and multi-national entities to smaller owner managed entities. In addition, Lopes acts for global clients who have investment interests in South Africa.
“This move comes during an extremely exhilarating time for BDO South Africa. The additional role will see Lopes increasing his focus on growing our Advisory offering as part of our International Growth Strategy. Lopes is ideally placed to head up Advisory and provide the necessary direction for the division within the South African market,” concludes Stewart.
