Soul Candi’s success record in developing young music talents is largely due to the pivotal role played by Ryan Murgatroyd, Soul Candi’s course developer.
Murgatroyd rose to global prominence when his release Funk Country became BBC1 Radio's "essential new tune" on the legendary Pete Tong show. Afterwards his solo career took a backseat as he followed other pursuits, including several smash musical hits as part of Crazy White Boy. Overall, Murgatroyd’s passion for music allows him to create inspirational curriculum content that he can share with other music lovers.
After studying sound engineering, Murgatroyd was greatly disappointed at the way the content was based on old technology and practices. Seeing a need for development and modernisation, Murgatroyd devoted his time to teaching himself the art of music production. Soon he was releasing music on prominent European record labels; and that also happened to be the time when Soul Candi Institute of Music called on him to develop course content. His belief that music exists to push boundaries and shirk conventions is immediately evident in Soul Candi’s methodology in teaching music.
Inspired by Murgatroyd’s devotion to the evolution of music, and as Soul Candi’s course developer, prospective students registering with Boston City Campus and Business College for the Soul Candi Institute of Music’s course can expect a high tech learning environment that offers students the kind of theory and practical based tuition that allows for a hands-on experience. Digital Music Composition and Production
This course, one of a kind in Africa, seamlessly integrates modern music composition with all the latest music production techniques being used by the world’s best hit-making producers. Not only will it provide you with the skills needed to enter the exciting and vibrant life of music production, but will further allow you the opportunity to thrive in the highly competitive and dynamic audio visual industry by encouraging the right commitment and passion to succeed. The unique training methodology combined with lecturer support and guidance gives the students greater opportunity for success.
Learners will study core subjects that include: Music Production with Reason Software, Music Theory, Cubase and Audio Engineering Theory, and Advanced Production and Post-Production.
Soul Candi DJ 101
From turntables to laptops and beyond, the array of technology at the disposal of the modern DJ is almost endless. Prospective students entering the exciting world of Soul Candi will experience hardware meeting human ingenuity to create genre bending, dance floor shattering performances.
With a practical and theory-based course breakdown, the Soul Candi DJ 101 course runs for a duration of two months (eight weeks) and students can register anytime, space permitting. Students will also attend class twice weekly – one practical lecture and one theory lecture per week.
