The award was presented by the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards which gathers the opinions and attitudes of young people between the ages of eight and 22 to determine which brands they think are the coolest. The survey is conducted by HDI Youth Marketeers.

Metro FM marketing manager, Christina Mazibuko, says; “As a station that entertains, educates and informs, we at Metro FM are most delighted to see the impact were are making in the lives of young people. We are even more delighted that we managed to keep the prize and recognition for the fourth consecutive year. It is heartwarming and re-assuring to see that the voice of young people is loud enough to be heard and appreciated, clearly as Metro FM we are in the right track. Metro FM has plans to preserve this position for 2017 and this will become evident through its marketing and programming plans for this current year as Metro FM celebrates 30 years”.
