Born and raised in KwaZulu Natal, Lentswe has always had a love for food. He began his career in the investment insurance industry, before trading in his suit and tie for a chef’s jacket in 2010. After graduating, he worked at various top South African restaurants such as the Savoy Cabbage, The Roundhouse Restaurant, and Saucisse Deli.

He is also a familiar face to foodie fans across the continent after appearing on Soweto TV’s Kasi Kitchen, web series Africa On a Plate and SABC3’s morning show Expresso.

“I’m over the moon to be joining The Great South African Bake Off. The format is a global phenomenon and I can’t wait to join BBC Lifestyle’s successful local version. It will be great to see, and hopefully sample, all of the baker’s creations,” says Bhengu about joining the show.

When asked if she was looking forward to a brand new series, co-presenter Anne Hirsch commented with enthusiasm. “Absolutely. I haven't had a good koeksister in such a long time. If I'm not careful, I might start losing weight. I can't wait to see what this year's bakers have in store for us.”

“I’m delighted to be back for a new series and I’m sure that the show is going to be even better this year. I’m hoping that many talented bakers, who lacked confidence to enter last year, have had the courage to do so this time around.  As a person who taught cooking for many years, observing bakers grow as the weeks go by, gives me a real thrill,” says Guy.

The Love Productions format will again be produced by Rapid Blue, with filming starting this month. The Great South African Bake Off will be broadcasted on BBC Lifestyle this October. The first series attracted record ratings, positioning itself as the highest performing show on BBC Lifestyle for 2015.

The Great South African Bake Off is locally sponsored by Mugg and Bean.
