Adrian Steirn, the founder of Beautiful News, is famous for his 21 Icons project that celebrated the lives of great South Africans. Steirn says that when he was conceptualising Beautiful News, he knew it had to have a home on a platform that was both proudly South African and spoke to as many South Africans as possible.

“We are delighted to bring Beautiful News to life as a destination for inspiring and positive stories about South Africa and its people. Digital platforms and multimedia content have liberated our ability to communicate and enabled people to access and share their stories. I needed a platform that would honour the ethos and intent of the project which is to enrich people’s lives with something positive, every day. Adriaan and the News24 team provide exactly that home,” Steirn says.

“It is no secret that South Africa is going through one of the most challenging periods post-1994. Bad news comes to you; you don’t have to look hard to find stories on bad governance, corruption or corporate greed. It’s much tougher to find beautiful news. South Africa is a beautiful country, loved by many despite our challenges. There are plenty of good news stories out there, but you have to look for them. We simply have to tell them too. This is why we wanted to partner with Beautiful News and Mercedes-Benz South Africa on this extraordinary endeavour,” says Adriaan Basson, editor of News24.

A third partner in bringing Beautiful News to life is Mercedes-Benz South Africa.

“Mercedes-Benz South Africa is proud to partner with Beautiful News and 24.com on this extraordinary project to help disseminate stories that demonstrate the best in humanity and the best of South Africa,” says Selvin Govender, marketing director at Mercedes-Benz Cars. “The 24.com platforms are an ideal fit for these unique stories and will appeal to a wide range of audiences."

Basson adds, “As we head towards the end of a very tough year for South Africans politically and financially, it is important to focus a little of each day on something that is beautiful about our beloved country.”
