The King’s Singers’ South African tour, supported by North-West University (NWU), will take place in Pretoria, Potchefstroom, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Cape Town and Stellenbosch between Thursday, 9 and Thursday, 16 February 2017.

The current line-up consists of Patrick Dunachie (countertenor), Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor), Julian Gregory (tenor), Christopher Bruerton (baritone), Christopher Gabbitas (baritone) and Jonathan Howard (bass).

Audiences can expect a consummate entertainment experience as they are taken on an enchanting vocal journey through various musical styles – from classical, folk and popular music favourites to jazz and choral standards.

Professor Fika Janse van Rensburg, rector of NWU’s Potchefstroom campus, says, “The North-West University has always had a soft spot for the arts, and we have consistently supported arts events and festivals that have enhanced Potchefstroom’s cultural life. Our PUK Arts department is thrilled to make the King’s Singers’ South African concert tour possible because we believe this gives young people and the public valuable exposure to exceptional artists of their calibre.”

The six singers will also be conducting workshops for choirs at the North-West, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Stellenbosch universities, as well as for the Mzansi Youth Choir in Soweto.

The King’s Singers member Christopher Bruerton says they are excited about performing in South Africa and mentoring young choristers next year. “Sharing our passion with others, whether they are audiences or fellow singers, is an integral part of what makes this ensemble so special. It’s always incredibly uplifting to work with young singers – we learn as much, if not more than we impart and always leave inspired and re-motivated,” he says.
