Xolani Gwala will be presenting SAfm"s flagship morning programme AM Live as from Monday, 6 October.

Xolani will present AM Live for a month, before moving to the afternoon drive"s PM Live on the station. He will also host SABC1"s main current affairs programme, Asikhulume as from mid-October.

"Despite receiving offers from a number of media outlets, I decided to return to the SABC. It offers unparalleled opportunities, and is an exciting environment in which to operate," Xolani said.

"I also signed up with the SABC because of my commitment to the ethos of public broadcasting," Xolani added.

Xolani, who previously presented Asikhulume and hosted the SAfm mid-morning show, left the SABC to work for the Middle Eastern-based RAM FM in January this year. After the closure of the station in August, he returned to South Africa.

"I was based in the Palestinian territory, in Ramallah, and as a journalist and broadcaster, I learnt so much while there. I will apply these lessons to my work in South Africa," he said.

"I really feel as though I have come home and I am looking forward to broadcasting to the nation and having an opportunity to touch the lives of millions of South Africans," he added.
