In their continual quest to support and uplift local music, Huisgenoot is embarking on the biggest undertaking in South African music history by distributing an astounding 408 000 free CDs with its 27 November issue. The Huisgenoot Somertreffers CD contains 10 tracks from top Afrikaans music stars from their current or forthcoming albums.

Vodacom joined forces with Huisgenoot, South Africa’s top-selling magazine, and recording label Select Music to record top artists such as Kurt Darren, Nicholis Louw, Die Campbells, Ray Dylan, Sarah Theron and Shine 4 on the CD. The compilation also features a bonus CD-ROM with seven music videos from the various artists.

According to Cookie Moodley, sales and client manager of the CD printing plant Arvato Digital Services, the Huisgenoot Somertreffers CD is by far the biggest single music CD print order they have ever manufactured.

“We have always been proud to associate ourselves with popular South African stars,” says Esmaré Weideman, editor of Huisgenoot. “The Somertreffers CD is a gift to all our loyal readers, filled with the music we know they want to hear.”

The free Somertreffers CD comes bagged with Huisgenoot’s 27 November issue and goes on sale from 21 November at the normal price of R11.95.
