ComicEx is a ComiCon style event with a celebration of different aspects of 'geek culture'. It is a place where individuals who enjoy gaming, sci-fi movies, cosplay, superheroes, and villains, wizards, zombies, etc. can join and interact.
The Mall of the South, in association with Caxton Alberton Record, Comaro Chronicle, Southern Courier, and GetIt Jo'burg South and Albertin, Easyweb, and Dion Wired will host the first ComicEx in South Africa.
ComicEx will provide entertainment, including live action role play, cosplay, gaming, an alien paintball arena, a movie theatre, free Wi-Fi access compliments of Easyweb, comic book stalls,
merchandising stalls, giveaways, and more. It is a strictly a pre-ticketed event. Tickets are R100 per day or R150 for two days.
Tickets can be purchased from Easyweb, Mall of the South centre management, and at selected restaurants at the Mall, including Col'cacchio, South Dakota Spur, Just
Darling coffee shop, Mochachos, and Rocomamas. No tickets will be sold at the door.
A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Johannesburg Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). A local children's' home will also be invited to attend a VIP experience at ComicEx.
