SABC Sport will broadcast the announcement live on SABC 2, News channel 404, and SABC radio stations (SAFM, R2000, RSG SAFM, and nine ALS stations) from 14:30 until 16:00. On Monday, 31 October, the Rugby World Cup board recommended South Africa as the preferred hosts for the 2023 Rugby World Cup; however, the decision must be ratified via a World Rugby council ballot in London on Wednesday, 15 November.

The Board made its recommendation following the consideration of the comprehensive host candidate evaluation report. This was in line with World Rugby’s aim to deliver a fully transparent host selection process for its showcase event.
