OFM regrets to announce that Kevin Savage will no longer broadcast his show, “The Sav” on Saturdays (09:00 - 13:00) and the popular "Gold Retold" programme (Sundays 09:00 - 13:00). Savage has opted to take up a position with FM startup MPowerFM in Nelspruit, as the General Manager.

OFM CEO Gary Stroebel voiced his disappointment over Savage"s sudden decision which left the radio station in a tight spot - "despite signing a new upgraded contract and numerous verbal commitments, Kevin let us know by email that he just wasn’t coming back from an interview in Nelspruit. Naturally we are disappointed with the unusual manner of his departure, but we have a good team of talented staff, and I am confident we will find someone to take over his shows."

Savage"s departure comes just four days after the introduction of a new broadcast roster, of which he was to play a pivotal role and which has been fairly heavily marketed. OFM"s Programme Manager, Tim Zunckel revealed that all options had been considered, including taking the show live from Nelspruit, but that MPowerFM"s facilities did not allow for this.

Stroebel added: "We wish Kevin well with his decision, and congratulate him on his challenging opportunity. We hope to name a replacement soon.”
